I have had so many calls from these jerks that I have resorted to a tried and true method of discouraging their intrusions into my life. When they call, as soon as I answer the phone and have confirmation it is them, I blow a whistle just as loud as I can into the phone. I suspect their ears are still ringing. You can get a whistle with a neck strap at Amazon. Good luck folks.

I suspect not because telephone lines will not transmit a sound loud enough to do any damage at all.  Your ears however are suffering from the sound produced by that whistle, especially in a closed room.
