Called asking for a woman's name (probably part of a scam). When I said she had the wrong number, she launched into a breast cancer fund raising spiel. Didn't say who she represented, etc. Even if this was not an actual criminal scam, these types of fundraising organizations are only borderline legitimate and often highly unethical with only a tiny fraction of raised funds going to the actual cause. They tend to represent causes that tug at everyone's heartstrings (e.g., cancer, firefighters, police, wounded veterans, etc). I wouldn't give these types of fundraisers the time of day (even less if is an actual scammer).
Don't know about others on this thread, but I get MANY of these types of calls and they are increasingly coming in from my own area code (720 in this case). As such, it is more difficult to just ignore such calls (as opposed to spoofed numbers from odd small towns in Idaho, Texas, etc). Is that true for any of you?
