Okay...so I've been getting up to 20 phone calls a day from a company calling themselves “Direct Merchants". I may not be saying anything new, but here is my experience. There are countless complaints found if you enter this company's phone number in Google. I have tried calling this number in vain to speak to a real person. The most aggravating part is that when you dial, it is a recorded message ("Hi. This is David...") and you have only two options: (1) press 2 to listen to a recorded message or (2) press 1 to disconnect. Finally out of desperation, I listened to the 10-15 min recording and found that they want you to sign up for Visa/MasterCard terminal credit card processing. It is a so-called money-making venture.
After being tortured with their recorded message, I finally was sent through to a real person and asked for them to remove my # from their list. Also asked to speak to their Customer Service Dept and the guy rudely said they don't have one. Then he cut me off in mid-sentence. He was VERY rude and kept asking what my name was. As I said, I am getting up to 20 calls a day on a TracFone that my 12-year-old son uses. The phone number is linked MCI Worldcom as carrier of the land line and to this address in the Bronx, NY: 1492 Morris Ave, Bronx, NY 10457-8907. The sorry b's didn't call me Sunday (imagine that) and my battery actually lasted all day. But when they call, it drains my battery in a matter of hours. I have turned them into the www.DoNotCall.gov registry, but it doesn't sound like others have had much success with this method.
