I received the same type of call from this phone number. I did not verify any information with them. i told them i was contacting my local police department. They said they would prosecute me and I told them to go ahead I would love to see them in court.

Called trying to get me to set up payment to repay a cash-to-payday loan

I got the same call however, the man referred to himself as Officer Mike Walters.  When I told him not to call me again, he said for me to stay where I was because his officers were coming to get me.  He also told me not to call him again.  I laughed and he said he would have his officers abuse me.  Okay, at that point I really lost it and just could not control my laughter.  Good grief!!!!
