They call and don't leave a message!

I have just started to get these calls.  When I answer there is no one on the other end.  I have kept the line open to see if it is a computer generated call and wait for a living person.  Nothing. So why are they calling and why don't they talk?

They say they are federal loan servicing. Last week we called the office listed on the bill and cleared any info. Today they called again and the first thing they wanted was a social security number. The person who answered the phone had no access to any college based data bases and again was adamant to get our social security number. When I told him I would get the account number he wanted to talk to my wife.

If fed loan servicing wanted to get in touch with you they will send you a letter. Don't answer and don't give any info over the phone. From my understanding no bank or financial institution will ever ask you for your social security number. ever.

Thanks for the head ups because I have been receiving them also. When you answer them and just listen there is nobody there. Also like you said they dont leave messages. Any suggestions in making them go awa?

I am getting the same issues I just put it on block so I do not have to deal with this any more. I appreciate the comments to help me. Thank you
