Some guy left a voicemail claiming to be from the law offices of Mossberg and Associates, then went on to say I was a defendant in a fraudulent check case involving my name and social security number. Same guy somehow found my mother's phone number and left a similar message on her machine, demanding my contact info. After not being able to locate such a law firm in Angola, NY (phone number prefix) I called back - a very aggressive male answered the phone. He demanded my "case number." When I responded that I did not have it on hand, he screamed "how the hell am I supposed to know what you're calling about?" I then asked him to provide me with a website or other mode of verification for his "law firm." His response was "We do not contact business online."
Ok. [***].
I'd like to know of a single ambulance chasing firm ANYWHERE - let alone the hell hole that is Angola, NY -- that cannot afford to have a digital media presence to attract potential clients. I then told him that he was clearly part of some scam and that if he called either me or my family again, I'd sue the living [***] out of him. The last words I heard before hanging up were..."Sir, you don't know what you're talking about." Sure I don't, bud.
