Get calls from this number occasionally; message always the same - caller is Steve somebody.  What I don't understand is why the telephone companies can't do something about these telephone numbers.  They have to be connected to some telephone line and paying some company a fee for using the phone line, yet the communications companies apparently are not able to do anything - or don't want to do anything about it.

Okay, so this is the latest spoofed number for the "you owe money to the IRS"  scam. I just received a call from this number and because the caller ID only displayed the telephone nunber (716) 707-0608 and "unknown name" I answered and then immediately hung up. I never answer calls from unknown callers. It's also funny that 4 hrs earlier I got a call and the caller ID stated "unknown" and no telephone number.  They were obviously calling earlier to see if my number was a working number.

I got the same pre-recorded call twice today. Got a live call from an obnoxious human doing the same thing a few weeks ago. Had that number blocked, and now this lame recording shows up. I've checked with the actual IRS and with police, and no doubt it's a scam. -Not answering the phone is not a federal crime.
-The IRS does not call people from India, or through fake phone exchanges.
Honestly, these predators should get a worthwhile job that betters humanity and doesn't damage their own soul. The sweetest irony is that thsee callers are the ones commuting criminal acts. Hilariously hypocritical. Until they get caught, or meet God.
