Somehow this number was listed on my hone service as a !call fordwarding number!.  Hence I could not receive any calls.  I don't know how this was deone.  Anyone know?

precisely the same thing happened to me... Evidently somehow, someone was able to override or hack into my account to change the forwarding # from my cell to this # I do not know... When this # is called, it just hangs. No one answers but the # gets connected... very strange... if anyone figures out what this is about, please let me know...

I was just notified by my cable / phone company security that my home number was being forwarded to the 716-589-0718. I could make out going calls but the incoming calls were going to the above number. They also hacked into my email.
The phone number ( 716-589-0718 ) is a bank of numbers located in Pendleton, NY. They are gathering numbers so they can sell them to whomever to make long distance calls that will be billed to you.  

Would'nt you like to get a hold of the type of person that does this type of stuff and return the favior..Just to see how they like it.

Read through the vertical service codes here http://www.nanpa.com/number_resource_info/vsc_definitions.html to see if any can help your situation. Searching for "call forward" on that webpage will lead you to the VSCs that affect call forwarding on your phone. I would try deactivating everything that has anything to do with call forwarding --  *91, *93, *83, *73, and *88. I hope you read this. I've bookmarked this page and will come back to see how you fared.
