Called me and left a message for several months.  I finally called back and said I was not the person they wanted in the message and had NO idea who she was.  The man on the phone asked for my name, and I didn't feel comfortable telling him so I told him I did not want to give it.  He started yelling at me saying that I MUST be the person they are looking for.  I told him that I was going to contact Verizon to get my number removed and hung up.

A recorded message came to 1st my job while calling my job came to my cell phone, said their name was James >>>> something and that I need to call them ASAP or have my council call. NO clue who they are or what it is about.

Scammers.  They are trying to scare you into giving them money.  Do not give out any personal information!!! They will use illegal tactics to get your money!!!

These people keep calling me and leaving messages for someone I don't know.  They say that if I don't call back, that my attorney should call them.  I don't plan to return the call and I can tell you that they sound threatening.

They are doing what is known as skip tracing trying to find someone who has an old unpaid debt that they bought for pennies on the dollar. Be aware that most of these collectors are very shady and skirt or completely ignore the laws governing debt collection practices.  If you call them back to tell them you never heard of the person and they have the wrong number be prepared to be called a liar and yelled at.  If they are one of the few that actually follows the law, they will remove your number from the file as being invalid for the person they are seeking.
