These people call about three times a day, and I usually do not answer but today I was feeling a bit "feisty" so I took the call. I also felt emboldened since my phone (which registers the time and day of all calls) shows that they called me at 10:55pm. It is "GC Corporation", a collection agency retained by GE Money. The woman who called would only identify herself as LINDA and would give me neither her ID number or her last name. She asked me to volunteer information about my identity which I refuse to do (always), but volunteered to confirm whatever she had on file (which she refused to do). I then asked her for the address of her firm, and she refused to give it to me. When I told her to indicate in my file that I have a complaint with the FTC against them for their violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and that any further correspondence with them needs to be in writing, she asked me if I had sent a letter to them indicating that. I reminded her that since she was unable to give me their address, it was a bit difficult.
I wished her a good day, told her that it had been a pleasure speaking with her. I kept her on the phone for a good ten minutes. Seeing how this is an uncollectable debt (I am disabled and judgment proof), I felt good about keeping this pathetic soul on the phone so long. Maybe it spared someone else the agony of having to talk to this semi-literate low life.
