Picked up but no one came on the line

Call received this evening -  8.21.13 at 8:22 p.m. Was recorded message about Senior in your house -- said entitled to free $3,000 worth of grocery coupons and free medical alert gadget -- asked to hit #1 if interested.   I hit #1 just to see who this was -- was disconnected.  
I wondering if this is some scam to figure out who is home and who might be "Seniors."

8:58 pm, Got the one of many calls from some Medical device co.. They hang up as soon as you try to speak to someone.This is on a no call list land line.

Got a call from this number Aug 22, 2013, 8:30 PM.  I was bored so I decided to pick up and see who it was, though I knew it was some sort of robocall.  "Medical Alert Company -- same as one listed above.   $3,000 grocery coupons, blah, blah, blah.  I kept them on the line for 16 minutes (I told you I was bored).  I kept pressing for more information.... I said that I really was interested, but that I learned that for my own safety I needed to know the name of the company and that I needed to check their website and also to phone them back to verify that they were legitimate.  Finally it sounded like a supervisor came by and told him to hang up, which he did.

Boy! Are they a PITA! Today at 9:57 AM CT on the same Landline there was this B.S. & that Top V# as before: V 82310574700019. These idiots annoy us. DNC & Unlisted means NOTHING.
