FRAUD ALERT!!  Do not sent this man any money.  He creates fake rental craigslist ads and tries to get people to send him money.  He tells people he is out of state and to do drive by.  Then he tells people to wire him the money and he will send them the keys in the mail.  He uses the real owners name and address.

Lesson:  If it too good to be true than it probably is.

This is an email that I just received from this scam artist about a home for rent in Colorado.

The house is still available. I decided to Rent the property because I have been transferred to GA for my new Job contract. I own the 3 bed, 2 full bath house located at 4251 Mariana Butte Dr Loveland, CO 80537. The Rent is $900 and the Security Deposit is $750. The initial plan was to sell out the House which I tried, but sometimes the agents Inflates the prize and it takes longer to sell because of this reason and more we need a responsible person that can take very good care of it as we are not after the money but want it to be clean and for you to take it as if it were yours. Pet are allowed as long as they are not destructive. I need to understand that there are many fake people on Craigslist, last time I leased my house and sent the Keys first but the tenant never send my payment until I called the police to get him out, once bitten twice shy. I will not send my house keys to anyone until I get a Part payment first. If you don,t feel comfortable with this idea please don,t bother to contact me. I understand that most people might be nervous because they don't know me but we can exchange ID, talk over the phone, and also send you a contract agreement before any payment is made so that the Applicant can know It is all legit. I took all my time to send this to you because I don't want a tenant that will waste my time. If you don't feel comfortable with my decision don't Contact me pls. Get back to me as soon as you go look at the house. You will not be able to go inside of the house as I have the key with me here in GA. I will Gladly appreciate if you go by the house and Peek through the window to have a better View of the inside of the House.

Sent this guy $600 and found this info on google, when he did call back or answer his phone really mad right now need help finding this guy and putting him to justice and getting my money back..

I did the same thing. Sent this guy a total of $1,450 on Monday (9/30) & signed a contract. He used the name Shane Montgomery for a property in Cabot, AR. He would not call me back with a tracking number for the keys, so I then Googled his number & then saw this info about it being a scam. I'm really mad right now!! I want justice served & for me to get my money back! Please contact me if any information. I already turned him in to the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3.gove) and into the Arkansas Attorney General.

Got this message in reply to a response I sent on a Craigslist rental ad. It seemed a little 'too good to be true,' but wasn't totally sure. I'm glad I decided to plug his phone number into a web search on a hunch!
