I received a call at my residence at 8:40 PM from a male caller who asked to speak to my wife. I asked who was calling and he said the American Diabetes Association. I told him we were on the do not call list, and he corrected me by saying that they were exempt from the DCL because they were an "Non profit". I asked him where he was located, and he said he was in Corpus Cristi, Texas. I told him that it was almost 9 PM on the west coast, and I did not want to be bothered again. As soon as I hung up, I hit *69, and called the number. I got customer service. I told her what had happened, and I told her that since she was a telemarketer, that they were bound by the DCL. I also questioned her firmly about why the caller said he was in Texas. She told me that she was not at liberty to discuss that. I asked her if she would be able to discuss it with the Better Business Bureau or the local media. Once I mentioned Cabarrus County NC, she was reluctant to talk to me further. Once she realized that I knew where she was, she asked for my telephone number. I did not give it to her because I felt like they would keep calling if I did .
