Our cellphone companies sell our info to these random people.
My guess is they ask you for credit card info, then take the 25,000 from you that they say you won. There's no magazines involved. It's incredibly rude - you guys are lucky that you are sound of mind enough to be suspicious but think of people with dementia (for example) and how easy of a target they would be.

I got the same publisher's sweepstakes speech from a lady with an Indian accent and when I asked how they got my number she said "oh probably because you are with either Visa, Mastercard, or American Express, or from other information". I said I don't own any of those cards and I have never entered my info to unknown sources and asked her to repeat where she got my information she said "like I said, probably from other information".
Then she said "okay I have entered your name into the sweepstakes have a nice day" and hung up. wasted 9 minutes of my airtime and I don't have a long distance plan. Should have known better than to pick up.

The number 1-704-307-4981 keeps calling and not answering.  This has to stop now !!!!!

Been called from this number 3 days in a row!  Did not pick up - (do not pick up unidentified numbers).  Don't know who they are or what they want but certainly pisses me off.

Sounds like a credit card fraud. East Indian scammer. Asked for me by name. Needs to be shut down or eliminated.

I have been receiving phone calls from this number for three weeks now.  I live in Atlantic Canada and it is getting really annoying.  Thankfully I have caller ID on my cell and I just don't answer.  Needless to say, they have never left me a message.
