Hung up when I answered.  A callback is answered by a live person who is some sort of reseller for verizon products or so he said. He apologized for 'missing' the call but launched into a sales pitch for reduced phone rates. Said my business was selected as one that would benefit from such discounts. He was unable to tell me what my business name was nor was he able to articulate precisely why it would be advantageous to accept his offer.

I'm the receptionist at the company I work for. We receive numerous calls from 703-935-1908. It only appears as Herndon, VA, on the caller ID. As soon as I answer & speak it disconnects. This has been going on for several months. I just called the number back & told them to remove our number from their call list or I would report them. Josh hung up on me. Must've hurt his feelings....

I receive many calls from Verizon, including one from this number today. I had Verizon & its predecessors for my business phone & internet for over 40 years, but their service, while never superior, deteriorated to the point where I was losing calls. Also, they don't offer fiber (FIOS) service at my business location or my home, despite having promised to provide it about 18 years ago & having been granted permission to raise their rates to underwrite the cost. I finally dumped them in January of 2014, switching to my local cable company, which gives me call waiting, caller ID, call transfer & a host of other services, as well as over 15Mbps/5Mbps download/upload internet speed, all for less than Verizon charged for horrible "service". Subsequently, I switched to the cable company at my home, where I now get more TV channels( most of which suck, as before) & well over 50Mbps internet speed, again for less than I was paying Verizon with a DirecTV bundle. I seriously doubt that I would ever do business with Verizon again, especially since their customer disservice reps continuously lied to me for years about repairing my phone line, which had a habit of developing a loud hum whenever it rained. [***] VERIZON!

I have never had Verizon. I am on no call list

(a) You are on the do not call list
(b) You have never had Verizon
(c) You were called by someone claiming to be Verizon
A real & honest company will not break the DNC. So you were called by criminals posing as Verizon by faking their caller ID to steal money, personal, and financial information from you.
Conclusion: NEVER believe the person on a call you did not make is who they say they are.
