Scam robo-call packed with lies.

"Oh [giggles] I'm so sorry I was having trouble with my headset."
- Lie #1. This is an example of the current rash of calls that start with claim of fake "headset troubles" to account for the silence that comes from the delay of the predictive dialer handing off to robo-chick.

"We're calling because you've stayed at one of our resorts before,..."
- Lie #2.  No, not ever. Never been to a "resort".

Top it off with shoddy voice interaction; the robo doesn't even pause when you loudly address it.
And of course, the call was placed to a number registered on the NDNCR so we know they are criminals before they even pitch the scam.

NO ID - no message left - tells me is a scammer.  What happened to "Do Not Call" registry?? No longer in effect?

No, the National Do Not Call Registry is doing exactly what it was designed to do; stop you from being bothered by legit telemarketers. The ones who call you now are all criminals. It is not really a fix-all call blocker (and the FTC would do better by not implying it is on their web site).

Also AFAIK the NDNCR complaint system feeds the database of known spammer numbers, which several call-blocking apps and services use to block calls.

Also, the law empowers you to sue the violators and collect damages. Many people have done this, but it's a difficult pursuit as you can imagine. Likewise it is time consuming/expensive for the government to pursue and prosecute these violators, although from time to time it does.

So you see it's quite functional.

Yep, and they continue to call although the number is blocked!
