Yes, these people are spammers, hackers, and frauds. If your Yahoo e-mail has recently been hacked, they will send you an e-mail, act like they're Yahoo customer service, and ask you to call a toll-free number (888-255-3610). Once you call the toll-free number, they answer right away with a thick Indian accent. Instead of helping you reset or change your password, they tell you that they're Microsoft-certified technicians and that your computer is in critical condition and that you could lose everything unless you buy some $200 program. They scare you into buying the program and pretend to help you. If you pay, they will suddenly say "bye," hang up on you, and start installing all kinds of software on your program. If you try to call them again, they won't answer. If you stop payment, they will call you repeatedly all day long from 657-643-8348. If you call them again the next day, they finally answer the phone, but deny everything and rudely yell at you. If you ask them to tell you exactly what programs they installed on your computer, they won't answer you. They will tell you that (1) they never installed anything on your computer; (2) they never even contacted you; and (3) they don't know what you're talking about. They also keep saying that they will call you back because they need to check their records to see what they did. Avoid all calls from this number.
