Voice message claiming that if business owners won't update their information, Google Maps will no longer show their business.

CID: Perkins, Brinso

Got Vmail from 657-218-5471 saying that I must call this number to verify my Google+ , the caller ID sayd "Brinso Perkins".

Here's the message they left me (again for the second time in 3 days):

"Hi, My name is Jeff Buckley I'm calling to confirm with the business owner that the information contained the local google places listing is accurate and up to date. There are two other issues with your company's current listing that we need to discuss with the business owner as well. It is very important that we talk as soon as possible. Please Call (657) 218-5461 to speak with your technical support representative immediately. Thank you."

Unfortunately this a-hole is using a pseudonym (Jeff Buckley is a deceased singer-songwriter, not a shady guttersnipe) rather than his real name.

So glad I can add callers to my cell phone's "reject call" list! (on an android phone, while looking at the "recent" calls tab, press and hold the number. A box will open up with options. Tap "Add to reject list". Good to go!)

Voice message claiming that if business owners won't update their information, Google Maps will no longer show their business.  If you call back, you get a voice mail recording and invite to leave a message.

BEWARE!! THIS IS A SCAM!! First of all, Google doesn't go around calling people and threatening to cut off their Google Map's listing.  Secondly, I have gotten a phone calls from this number, usually on Thurs, leaving a recording that on Friday,
if I don't contact them. Well, listing is still there with all my good ratings in tact and today is Saturday.  So these people are basically trying to do white collar extortion by making threats to end a service they neither control or are capable of controlling.  I assume that if I were to speak with these people, they would no doubt tell me that for a fee they can your listing in tact. Google should be notified of their activity and they should be shut down.
