I had an ad on craigslist for scuba diving gear and had this phone number txt me, then email me to tell that he wanted to buy the gear and would be sending a certified check and a shippinjg agent to pick up the gear. I'm so glad I foind this site with this post to know that it was bulls**t.
Hope this helps someone else.

Scam if the guy can not call you there is a reason wanted to buy my craig list item would only deal via e mail stay clear .

Thanks for this reverse look up!  Put item on CL, got called less than 24 hours.  Offered selling price plus 'shipping & tax'. 'Shipping agent' would be funded the extra money I recv'd.  I replied that the package would be shipped with a location tracer and I would need a photo ID sent to local police dept.  No response.

You may have been subjected to something like scam  #1, as described at
http://phonehelp.2truth.com/facts.html

That site also shows how other 800notes visitors have reduced the number of telephone scams and telemarketing calls they receive.  (And, a link to Amazon's phone blocker devices and apps is there).
