I believe they are selling search engine optimization (SEO) with promises of having your business appear on the first page of any Google search for your type of business. They don't care much about your business actually showing up on the first page, but they do care about access to your checking account or your credit card number. They also care about you saying the word 'yes' in any part of the conversation, such as "Are you John Doe?" "Yes, I am". These scammers are famous for recording the call and editing your 'yes' into agreeing to be charged $xx amount of dollars every month forever or until you cancel the card or close your account. With few exceptions, they imply that it is Google calling you, but it never is. Local Splash, Local Edge (Talking Phone Book). If they can't find a website for your business, they'll tell you that they will give a website FREE for a month and then charge you God knows how much a month after.
