Got the same call. A guy with a heavy accent picked up. Told me he couldn't talk from my work number and I would have to call from the local police station.

I got a fake sounding call, they said there was a fraud and misconduct on your tax, and so on. The call came from the number 646-583-0596

Left message that I'm under investigation for tax fraud, blah, blah, blah.
Hasn't this crap been covered enough in the national news? The IRS does. not. call. anyone for such matters. By law, everything has to be done in writing! Anything else is illegal.
These idiots may not be part of the IRS but they're definitely a criminal division.
