There are indeed many telemarketing & online scams. And we all need to be careful. But there are also people who post false information on forums like this, either because the misunderstand situations, or because they simply enjoy spreading lies.
I checked this site because I received a call & this was the fastest way to verify the caller. eTeacher.com is a huge organization, with multiple phone lines, like many other businesses. I was a customer for 5 tears, taking 6 courses. Many of my friends have done the same. Not once did any of us, or the dozens of people in my classes ever have any problems. Their policy on paying for the courses has been consistent. You sign up, and have until the 2nd class to drop without having to pay the full course. I've know others who had to drop, because of scheduling or financial considerations, and it was never a problem.
One reviewer complained that she could no longer afford the course and complained that they were going to hold her to a contract. I understand that times are tough for many people, financially. But this is no different from any other contract she could have voluntarily signed - like a car loan, a gym membership, course at a local college - eTeacher is business, like any other. It shouldn't be unfairly maligned through gossip.
