Dear,
Recruiting agencies ask for SSN just to check if you have ever worked with a particular client recruiter is recruiting for. If you have worked wit that client then "are you eligible for re-hire?". even if you never worked with that particular client still SSN is needed as exp part from resume can be removed. Not all clients needs  SSN. Some of them need last 4 digits of SSN. some of them need full SSN. And your SSN is fully safe and confidential. It is put in a confidential database as soon as recruiters receive it. Only hiring manager can access it. No one else can access it.

Thanks,
Recruiter,

This is Michael with Rose International, a large information technology consulting firm.  I came across your resume on Dice.com and based on your skills, you might be a good match for a new Clarity Administrator position with my company.  Please contact me at your earliest convenience for a quick phone interview; I can typically be reached Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.  I have included my contact information, with a link to the Rose website for you to review.  I look forward to speaking with you soon!

Calling about a position for Bank of America. Called me 7 times in a matter of 10 minutes, left  messages. I think it's obnoxious! If I have not called them back , I am not interested. Why do they keep calling?

I received two separate calls from 1-636-812-4000, a woman said she was Denita with Rose International and that she was responding to a resume that I had sent out.  Well, although I thought it was odd that she would be calling from a long distance #, I have been looking for work and know that some companies do use outside sources to screen applicants.  She went on to say that the job in question was with Bank of America and asked if I would be interested?  I said I would, she confirmed my information on the resume and said I sounded like a good fit and she would send over my resume to Bank of America and get back to me, also that she would e-mail me with more info.
I never received any e-mail and now I'm wondering what this was all about?

I got a call from a guy who said he was with a recruiting firm and had
seen my posted resume. Phone number was 636-812-0221. He barely spoke
English. Said he had a job for me with Bank Of America. I tried to pin
him down on where he was located. I asked him for his corporate address.
When he couldn't answer, I told him I wasn't interested
