She didn't use this phone number - she used (at first) 708 669 9544 (and then) 912 289 7362 - but she emailed me saying she got my information from Care.com as well and, you all know the story, scammed me out of so much money that I have to close my long standing account with a bank that I have really enjoyed using. Once I found out the check she sent me to 'pay bills' for her was fake and sent her a message about it, she first ensured me it would be taken care of by the next morning and then when it wasn't, ignored me for a week. I filed a police report (which won't do me any good at all) and went to my bank to inform them I'd been scammed. They can't do anything for me, but they're holding me personally responsible for the damage she did. I have a 5 year old daughter and a baby on the way, so when I was offered when I thought was the perfect job opportunity, I jumped on it. She said she was hard of hearing, she was a stock broker in Chicago, she and her 6 year old son Jason were moving to my area soon, etc., etc., you all know what is apparently her regular routine. We emailed and texted for a month before she sent me a check. There were red flags, of course, but I wanted to do something for my family and my current job is only part time. The check came from the address of a church in California and was from a different name than she had been using, but I figured it was someone on her "payroll" that she had talked about in our emails. The number she used at first was an Illinois number, so that didn't bother me. The number she last used to contact me was a Georgia number. She sent me the check, I deposited it, it cleared, and so she gave me my first assignment; send $1,300 to her mother's caretaker in South Carolina. I did that before the bank realized the check was fake, so that money is completely lost as well as the exact reason my account has to be abandoned, as was the last check I got from my job. She contacted me again after ignoring me for a week, telling me she was sincerely sorry and seeking god's forgiveness and that she even had a friend who wanted to rectify my bank account's negative status using his inheritance from his parents, if I would just give her every single piece of pertinent information regarding my account. Of course, at that point, I knew not to even think about doing that. I told her I couldn't do that after she sent me a fake check and ignored me for a week, to which she simply said, "I said am sorry about all that Ok"
Of course, with no income from me, and bills falling more and more behind, it is absolutely not ok. Not in any way is this ok! Nor will it ever be. I didn't think until today to check the email address in Google, which is how I found this page, but I did check the address and the phone numbers as soon as I was told the check was fake and I knew I was going to the police and my bank. After having read everyone's posts here, I'll definitely be sending 'her' another message, letting them know, again, how low I think they are and that they absolutely cannot fool me again. And, I will do what I can to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else. No one, except maybe Mrs. Bethany Philips, the heard of hearing stockbroker, deserves for this to happen to them.
