Called me several times left messages saying I had a 3rd party lawsuit against me. Said they were calling from the law office of Riley Welland. When I called them back a guy answered right away not the same guy who left a message he new my address and last 4, he said he was calling on behalf of a credit card I had not paid 7 years ago, he told me someone would be coming to my house to deliver a summons and someone 18 or older could accept it. He then asked me if I wanted to make a statement as to why I didn't pay it, I told him no. I then told him they were not to contact any of my family as they had called my parents he then said OK we will not contact anyone about this loan and he named my car lender this time which is still active and has always been in good standing. I then hung up I was suspicious anyway but when he messed up and said a different creditor then originally stated I knew this was a scam.

I got a call today that really unnerved me! This call came from Los Angeles Cal. and the man wanted me to verify my last four of my social and told me I had a complaint filed against me. I'm like excuse me? From who? He said I can't tell you unless you verify your last four of your social. I said, well what is your name and the company you are with? He said Calvin Carter. The company name is Rylie Welland & [***]. The # that showed up was 1-626-509-9557. I did not verify my social and he got very upset with me when I said I would have my lawyer contact him and why would I tell you my social? He GOT REAL gruff with me and said I didn't ask you for your social. I said, you wanted me to verify that you had the last four. People are getting real good at scamming these days! Rich went and did a search on this dude , the # and the name of the company. Everyone is saying they have had this guy call and do the same thing. Be aware people......I will not lie......it rattled me! Why would someone here file a complaint against me and this idiot be calling from Los Angeles?

There are no complaints filed against you.  Debt collectors have nothing to do with complaints.  Period.  He's trying to make you think that some civil law case was filed against you.  Common trick by debt collectors.  This is a debt collection scam.   Ignore and block the calls.

Just because someone on the phone calling you says you owe a debt does not mean you actually owe it.

If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:

1.    Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2.     Demand a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.
3.    Do not pay  the collection agent or anyone else a  dime until the debt is validated

Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply ignore them and block their calls.

If they continue to bother you,  and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.

You'll probably have to yell at them and talk over them.
You have to get tuff with these people because,  being akin to thugs, brute force is (metaphorically speaking),  the only thing they understand.
