OK.. This guy isn't very nice, nor are his staff. He appears to be collecting medical debt, old and new and then helping to make sure you pay it. Honestly if I could have paid it to begin with I would have, but the amount of medical debt I've been blessed with is another story for another time...
My experience was getting sued, the at least did give an itemized list and it was valid as far as I could tell. When he sued I took the calls more seriously. I get enough calls from various places looking for bits and pieces of what I can't afford (silly stuff like food and the household bills come first, once I get extra to pay some off, it's inevitable that others go unpaid and get picked up by places...) ... so I talked to them. They weren't that rude to start with, set up an agreement to pay.
This is where I made my mistake, I didn't get anything from them in writing, was happy to not have it go any further (Garnishment) and settle on a set monthly amount. It was more than I was comfortable with, but I made it work for 8 months - at the 6 month mark Michele (the aforementioned rude one) called. She tried a few of the numbers we had listed with them, but I missed her calls and didn't call her back. Well, in the talks about paying them back she mentioned a re-evaluation after so many months.... that is why she called. She made very little effort, left no details in the calls and apparently a short while after I didn't return the call she got the paperwork rolling on garnishment. That special little paper came to work well after it was too late. I called her immediately only to be told that I was "in violation of our agreement" - our unwritten, unsigned, verbal agreement.
That was BS, they weren't getting enough money fast enough and looked for the first viable excuse.
My advice:
Talk to the court. If you're hearing from him, you'll likely be dealing with the 58th District in Holland. My experience with the staff there, while they do seem busy, is that they cared more than Lobbes does. They have been helpful.
I'd get payment set up through the court to start with. That way they (Lobbes) can't just jerk you around on a whim without warning you. The wench still grates on me when I asked why, if I was so unreachable and in such violation of our agreement they cashed 2 more checks from me, her reply "those were good faith payments" - good faith? Why should I have that when you don't....
