Yep, I got a call also.
They said I owed an outrageous amount from a medical bill. I got furious as I knew that I had canceled checks from said bill paid in full.
I gave them original amount billed to me and and the amount of last statement which was paid in full....Last week I got a bill for the amount of the latter amount. Go figure...now why would they tell me I owed a thousand dollors and then bill me for $240.00.
Two years ago when I sent the check in for the last couple hundred dollars owed on my medical test to OSU's Billing dept, I got another bill saying I owed even more the very next month...for even more...than my last statement. APPARENTLY.....OSU needs to get a new billing company to handle their accounts.
Same thing happened from a hospital in WV several years ago. I sent all canceled checks to a collection agency proving I had paid my bill. Then I got a letter stating it was for different invoice. I knew very well that I only had one test in that hospital which was in another state. Never saw a Doc...it was just a lab blood test. I sent the statements again with canceled checks and had to go around and around with the hospital in WV to get it reconciled.
A year later, I got another letter for the same bill from a collection agency again. Went through the same hoop jumping to get it reconciled with copies of statements and canceled checks.
Beleive it or not....a year later it started all over again for the 3rd time. I called the head of Charleston Area medical center and said, "Either you fix it, or I call the Attorney General's office and a lawyer."
Believe it or not
