Got a voice mail today from a "Senior Investigating officer". I think he said his name is Stephen Johnston even though I could barely understand him due to his very strong East Indian accent.  He provided me with warrant id and said CRA wanted to talk to me before they instigate legal action against me.

It sounds very much like similar experiences others have had from almost similar phone numbers.  The number that showed on caller ID is a legitimate CRA help line number 1800 959 8281 but the number he gave me to call back is 613 665 2875.

I called my accountant and he said CRA would never make a phone call about legal issues.  They would always send a letter.  So I'm confident that this is a SCAM!

Oh yeah, if there was a warrant they would just show up at your house-they wouldn't call first

I got a very similar call,same name and same scenario and very strong East Indian accent.  I got worried a bit but afye an hour I realized that the Government of Canada do not operate this way. I believed that this is a scum as well.

I got a call from 'Steven Johnston' with a strong Indian accent saying that he is calling from the Canadian Credit Bureau and there will be a Federal investigation against me and that I should return his call at 613-665-2875 however this number is constantly busy.  Then I got a call from "Johnathan Knight" with the same strong Indian accent saying he is calling from the CRA and that it is a 'time sensitive matter' 'DO NOT IGNORE THIS MESSAGE - RETURN THIS CALL IMMEDIATELY" however Johnathan never left his number.  This situation stinks like a putrid scam artist.

I received the same message from Jonathan Knight. I believe its a scam also.
