Wendy: The people who are calling, are not from 613-288, they are calling from someplace other than 613-288. The problem is that the CALLER-ID portion of the number can be LIED to. So when the call is placed, the receiving telephone equipment , has no way to be sure, but just blindly trusts that the sending machine is telling the truth. (It is not, by the way).

Allstream have very little to do with it, and are getting ripped off because of these criminals, and your rates have to compensate for the lost traffic on your home phone lines.

Complain to your local phone company, and make sure that you do not give out any personal info to anyone who is calling.

Scammer pretending to be revenue canada and leaving threats. It's a recording so don't bother saying anymore than 1 hello. When you call back it will be busy or just rings. I was shocked when after 6 hours of trying someone finally answered but hung up on me. We have been getting these calls for at least a year if not more. Don't bother remembering the number they change it all the time. I did find out the phone company is All Stream. 1-888-288-2273. I'm going to call All Stream and complain about their client everyday till they do something or I get tired of them.

Got the same call: "Return this message. I need you or your written attorney of records to return the call. The issue at hand is extremely time sensitive.  My name is Officer Peter Samson and the hotline number to my division is 613-288-9285. I'll repeat its 613-288-9285.   So now if you don't return the call or if I don't hear from your attorney either then the only thing I can do is to wish you good luck as the situation badly unfolds on you. Good bye."
