Spoofed number. Received calls 8 times between Friday afternoon and Monday morning but did not answer. Dialed number back and got an operator message from Verizon Wireless that the number was disconnected even though I received a call from it an hour ago.

Number phoned 6x in the past 12 hrs. Leaves a recorded message saying  "Hello, it's me. Hello". I have since blocked the number. Returning the call renders a message saying it is disconnected. Further investigation reveals that a service can be used online to make calls using any number they want, connected or not. Just like anonymous emailing. They only have to put in a number or email to send something out, real or not. VERY frustrating.

It is called "Caller ID Spoofing" and has been out for many years.
