Number belongs to Schachter Portnoy LLC.  They collect in New York and New Jersey.  I got served a debt collection suit from them last week.

I was sued by Schachter Portnoy for 6,500.  Can anyone recommend a lawyer?  I live in Buffalo, NY.

Be aware that this is a marketing vehicle and most of the listings will be for bankruptcy attorneys who mainly push papers and couldn't fight a debt case downhill with a bazooka. If time allows, you'll have to look at the track records from similar cases. The Credit InfoCenter and DebtorBoards websites provide very good guidance if you'd rather work pro se, or have no better choice.
