*SCAM ALERT* - Institute of Business Publication

A Realtor in my office received a phone call from this company, insisting that he accept a free magazine.  (It was a trial, with no obligations, etc. etc)  He would receive this magazine for a short term and if he liked it he could call back and order a subscription.  Time passed and then my company received a phone call from a Louis Andrews (Says she is the attorney - yeah right) at 607-687-5201 ext 100 stating that one of our employees ordered a subscription to the Institute of Business Publication, and that our company was being billed for this, and it was going to collections ??????   What?  This person cannot sign for our company, he is a independent contractor??    Anyway Louis Andrews was very rude and even hung up on one of the owners who was questioning her about this so called invoice.  What a joke.  We have turned them into the Attorney General’s office of NY.  1-800-771-7755 (They were very familiar with this scamming company)

I have just gone through the same thing. These people actually had a voice recording of me that I think was dubbed. It took them along time to put it together. Then I asked her for proof that I received the material and the only thing she could say was the post office delivered it to my address. I asked how she knew this and she told me that the USPS encodes everything. I called a friend of mine who works for USPS and he laughed. These people are a scam and I will be turning them in as well.

My company received this same exact scam invoice. I called and Ms. Louise Andrews reluctantly allowed me to listen to a recording of one of my fellow employees, which appeared to be altered. I also asked for proof of delivery which she told me she had. But she said she couldn't send it to me, she informed me that I'd have to get it from my USPS. I will also be reporting this to the Attorney Generals office.

Add one more to the list. All the details are the same as above. I suspected this was a scam when a collection company called. I forwarded all the info to my Attorney. Reports should be filed with the Consumer Fraud Division of the Attorneys General office in your State

What a racket.  Institute of Business Publication  hits you with a bogus invoice and United Credit and Collections follows it up with collection efforts.  Probably some companies just pay to get rid of them.

Their info:  United Credit and Collections.  Phone 607-689-0196 or 607-687-5201 x-102.  Either number gets them; it's a small operation, probably a boiler shop.  Their website says they're located at 63 North  Avenue in Oswego, NY.  Except there is no 63 North Avenue in Oswego.  The names they use are probably bogus too:  Kim Wahila
