I also received a call from this number, 607-595-1862. I talked with a man who claimed his name was "Nick Brown". He informed me that I owed on a payday loan that was put in my bank account in July. The funny part is I didn't have that bank account at the time he claimed I received this money. Every time I asked him a question, he was very brief with the response and then tried to get off the phone with me. I kept him on the phone until he answered most of my questions and he told me that I needed to respond by tomorrow at noon about whether I want to settle my supposed debt out of court or go to court. Tomorrow is Christmas Eve and I told him that I needed more time but he said that is all the time he could give me. After being off the phone with him a few minutes, I thought of another question and called back but was informed that he had left for the night. I tried to get the man who answered to give me some more information but he claimed that because "Nick" was the person in charge of my account that he wasn't able to give me any info. I asked him for the company name, which he said was "State Department Federal Credit Union". I asked him for the company's physical address and he told me that they are in New York City, New York but refused to give me an actual address. He worked hard to get off the phone as well so I finally hung up on him. I just googled State Department Federal Credit Union and found that they are a bank for federal employees. Since this company is claiming to be a federal company and can get into extreme trouble for doing such, I decided to send the actual company an email and let them know that these people are using their name to try to scam others out of money. I don't figure that this other company will like hearing that too much and considering they are a federal company, I hope that the scammers really get what's coming to them.
