Caller ID said "Dandy Mini Mart".  I looked up the area code and it's in NY.  I don't know anyone in that area.

Person with foreign accent called from this number and asked for me by my first name, but mispronounced it.  I said I wasn't that person.  She asked if I was the spouse.  I said I wasn't.  She asked if she was speaking to (last name) and I said no, you have the wrong number.  She hung up.

Tried calling the number from work to see who would pick up and a fax machine answered.

No clue what's going on, but probably a spammer.

Caller ID said "PayPhone"

Person with foreign accent asked for my husband. I said he wasn't here. He asked when he could call back I asked what it was in regards to. He said he was calling from the government as he's been selected for a grant.

I asked him not to call back.

I got the same thing to my phone as well.  I dont answer.  I do however have a caller screen block on my phone line.  This must be the number they enter in to bypass it.

Male person with heavy east Indian accent, said his name was Johnny Smith. Said he was calling from Toronto. Said he was calling from the company PC repair and said that my computer was infected with a whole binch of viruses. Wanted me to pres the window +R keys at the same time, that a ram box would open. Then wanted me to type eventvwr and click OK. I was to tell him what it said. I said I would call him back but he said he was not authorised to give me the number. That was the end of the conversation, I hung up.

Just got a call from that number and the heavy accented guy said he was calling from Microsoft and that my computer was infected and corrupted and he wanted to help me reboot it. There was such a terrible echo on the line, I couldn't hear him  right. He got confused when I said I had more than one computer and different versions of Windows and wanted to know which one he was talking about. He got his supervisor (they were all talking in a foreign language to each other). The supervisor said he was not calling from Microsoft, and asked who told me that. I just told him to never call me again.
That was the end of it. They have called me every few weeks lately, and have hung up on me in the past.
