A very happy voice asked me if I would be interested in getting a quote on new windows, there is an appraiser in my area.
Seeing area code 607 and knowing it's in or around NYC and I'm in Canada I asked him if they had someone in my town.
I was asked to repeat my question, that's when I realized that the voice was artificial.
There was a short delay between every question or answer, as if a computer was analyzing what I had said and preparing an
answer. My last statement (very clearly expressed) obviously did not compute and I was asked to repeat. That's when I
saw I was speaking with a machine. I then told it to go [***] itself, that surely registered and it hung up. By the way I think we
do not owe any politeness to these bandits, no white gloves, they take advantage of our goodness.
I also think it's made to recognize the first greeting when you answer, if it's not a proper hello with an English accent it hangs
up, that's why many people mention here that they had no contact or any message left.
