From the same number, they said it was for police support, for a small donation of 25 dollars they will send a support police decal to put in the window of a vehicle. I told him I had no credit card. so he asked for a promise  of payment if sent in the mail. he then transferred the phone to his supervisor who took down my address and name. OMG now I am worried after reading these other comments.

i got a call from them yesterday, asked for me by name. i just put the phone down while he was talking, picked it up a few seconds later, and he was still going strong, i just hung up.

Called two or three times. Caller Id said "Charity". I picked up and he claimed to be fund raising for a police group of some kind. I told him that police should know better than to raise funds via phone calls and I thought he could be a scam. He then claimed to be a "paid fund raiser" for a police group. I told him to mail me the organization's info. He said maybe I could help next time, which is a ludicrous answer to my request.
This is obviously a scam and I will report to DNC, for all it's worth.

Charities are not subject to the DNC list no matter how little of the money they collect actually goes to the charity. The vast majority of these paid fundraisers give no more than 10% of the money collected to the charity, the rest goes to paying salaries and supporting the call center doing the calling.  Unfortunately, it is all legal. The best way to deal with them is to first state you do not give to a paid fundraiser because they give too little to the actual charity. Then ask to be placed on their internal DNC list if they have not yet hung up.

This number has called at least twice now they never say a word just silence .
