My 86 year old grandmother just called me in tears because she received a call from an "Officer Reed" at the "IRS" who stated that she hadn't paid her taxes for a number of years. I do her taxes for her every year and the IRS doesn't just call you like this. I finally calmed her down and assured her that this is a scam. I'm madder than hell right now. I hate that this is allowed to happen to unsuspecting elderly folks.

My caller ID  on my landline phone read "Leesburg, VA" .  I didn't pick it up but the caller left a voicemail in a thick accent with a distinctive voice.  I remembered his voice so well because I got a series of similar calls from the same voice back in March.  Basically, in a calm tone, the caller tell me he is from the IRS and that I should call back immediately or the IRS is going to do all sorts of horrible things to me due to my tax fraud.  He even says that if I don't call him all he can do is wish me "Good luck."  Of course, I realized this was a scam but an elderly person might be quite scared.

Just received calls today. I don't answer numbers I don't recognize, but I thought maybe it was my dentist. This woman said are you ,name, ( she had my last name wrong), we have found you guilty of tax evasion and or tax fraud. All I could do was laugh and say I'm sorry that's wrong and she hung up. They have rung my line at least three times.

Left a message claiming to be from the IRS. Called again from another number (727) 756-5201. Super aggressive and claiming that the sheriff was going to come arrest us in 2 hours if we didn't pay the fine of 10k. Nice try... Total scam... all the numbers are being routed out of India. [***].

Another scammer from the shallow end of the gene pool.  This guy went by the name "Agent Paul" and was armed with a VOIP number.  Agent Paul, (with the same Pakistani accent) refused to believe his phone was going down.  He snickered in a rather sarcastic way and said "You can't do anything!"

Anyway, he's history along with his phone number.
