Supposedly got a call from this Toledo, OH number (567-258-0413), though extremely likely it's actually coming from outside the USA. IRS telephone phishing scam attempt. Messages left on our answering machine. Recording of a man speaking mediocre English who claims to be "Alex Cooper, IRS Officer" and that there is a lawsuit with the IRS we must call him back about, or else terrible things will happen. Obviously fake.

Just got the same message in Rhode Island.

Yup, got a message from "Alex Cooper" (heavy Indian accent) at the IRS this morning.  Left the same threatening message, asking me to call back the same number.  I did, knowing it was a scam but curious nonetheless, and the guy was oddly agitated and nasty from the start, as if he wasn't even interested in trying to play the whole thing out.  He probably hasn't slept in three days.  Anyways, I got the same old lame lines, delivered in about six seconds...there's a lawsuit, I'm going to be arrested, the cops are on their way now, my trial is tomorrow (on Thanksgiving!) blah blah blah.  I said that was fine and I'd happily talk to the police when they got here.  He hung up after that.  I guess the cops have better things to do.

Has called 5 times in the past 48 hours.

This same number have called my phone several times today and I warned him I was going to Call my attorney if he didn't Stop calling me he insisted that he was a federal agent calling from the IRS and I completely cut him off bye saying I was going to Call an attorney and the police and then he didn't to hang up. This is very annoying.
