I received a WhatsApp message from this number.  But I could not open  the message.  When I tried to open the message the screen of my mobile (android OS) goes black and stays black for long, no response and frozen.  I restarted the WhatsApp application.

No it was probably a virus, Trojan, or malware that is stealing everything from your phone.  Yolu should have had an antivirus program ( most are free) installed.  I am not sure what you can do at this point except go to your phone carrier's web site or store and ask them for technical support.
Whatsapp is an a problem program that has numerous complaints about it all over the web.  Simply search for " Whatsapp scams"
