Received a call from them about a Vehicle Protection Plan. She said she was calling about a 2010 Jetta (I sold it two years ago). When she asked about the Jetta, I told her that car had burned up in an accident and four people were killed (Not True, I sold it to a friend), Rather than saying "Oh, I'm so sorry" or showing any remorse, she instantly said "We cover any cars in your household"! COLD! I then asked if the number that appears on my caller ID is the number for her company or if I called it, would it say "No Longer In Service". She said the number would not reach them, because they use some phone service. I asked her what the name of her company was and she said "Vehicle Protection Direct" and she asked me if I wanted to speak to a supervisor. I said yes and spoke with "Floor Manager Paulette". I told her the number she dialed is on the Do Not Call Registry and she said they got the number from a dealer or an auto service center I may have used. I said what she was doing was against the law and it carries a $16,000 fine if convicted. She said it was not, because they got the number from a dealer where I had given them the number. I said the law doesn't work like that. Just because I gave my number to a dealer that worked on my call doesn't give her the authority to violate the law. I said, it is up to you to check each of the numbers they cold called, to see if the number is on the registry. She apologized and I asked for the address of her company. She was very polite and said: 84 Hubble Drive, O'Fallon, Missouri, 63366.
So, now I report it.....
