We keep getting calls from this number as well. We don't answer the phone when we can't identify the caller. For those of you who are curious about how much of a donation a charity gets, check out this link and select the charity (FOP seems to only get about 15-25% of what you give them).
http://www.roanoke.com/data/viewdata.aspx?wdid=35&cid=14 . Pretty interesting (and depressing) information...

It is the Fraternal Order of Police soliciting for a donation. I am constantly being called by them as well. After doing research, most of the money they get goes into their administration, not helping wih law enforcement. If you wish to give a donation, give directly to your local law enforcement branches, NOT these types of organizations. At least at the local level, the money goes directly to your area's law enforcement. Also be on the lookout for ones that claim to be for fire and rescue as well. Most of these places provide less than 20% towards the actual cause. If you donate, do it directly to the place, not through these people. If they don't get the money, then maybe they won't be around to harass with these calls.

A man acted like he knew me in a matter of fact manner, asked me if I was m... I am so tired of these fop jokers.  A real policeman told me that is I wanted to donate to the fop than go locally not thru a phone solicite.  These guys keep calling.  Im even on the national do not call  list.

Constantly getting calls from this number.  If the name does not come up on caller ID, I do not answer it.  It usually come up as if it is from Virginia.  Can anything be done about it?

Send emails to these folks that work for the FOP  maybe they will get the hint!!
