Dun & Bradstreet Credibility Corp. is a private company headquartered in Malibu, California, USA that provides credit and credibility solutions for businesses throughout the U.S. and Canada. The company was formed in July 2010 when it acquired the North American Credit-on-Self division, also known as the Self Awareness Solutions (SAS) operating unit, of Dun & Bradstreet after raising approximately $200M from Great Hill Partners. Internet entrepreneur Jeff Stibel is the Chairman and CEO.

Dun & Bradstreet is a separate company tracing its history back to July 20, 1841, with the formation of The Mercantile Agency in New York City by Lewis Tappan. The company was formed to create a network of correspondents who would provide reliable, objective credit information. In 1933, The Mercantile Agency merged with competitor R.G. Dun & Company to form today's Dun & Bradstreet. The DUNS Number system was invented in 1962.

Dun & Bradstreet Credibility Corp. is a spin off of Dun & Bradstreet, focussed on credit and credibility building. Dun & Bradstreet Credibility Corp. products and services include the:

1. DUNS File Creator which establishes a business’s DUNS number.

2. The SelfMonitor with ScoreBuilder, which helps businesses monitor and build their credit, giving them full access to the D&B scores and reports, and adding credit references.

3. The D&B CreditAdvisor, allowing the businesses to see other company’s reports and receiving email alerts when competitors’ credit changes.

4. D&B Credibility Review, which allows businesses to control what others see about them.

This company presents themselves as Dunn and Bradstreet.  They even answer the phone as "Dunn and Bradstreet"  then there's a long pause and the rest of the company name is stated "Credibility Corporation".  When I asked if they are actually Dunn and Bradstreet I got a long twisted answer where the representative said that they are a "branch office" off Dunn and Bradstreet.  The representative said that they are a business credit reporting agency.  He said that they were "alerted to contact" me because my business credit report has an "incomplete status" and that they were getting in touch to "take the proper steps to have my information verified."  He said that they would gather information and "submit it to the courts and the Secretary of State."  They would then provide a copy of the report to me (this would be a report of the information that I gave THEM) and it would only cost me $299.  Wow, what a deal.  I answer questions, they type the answers, mail me a copy and charge $299.

Apparently my business (set up for the sole purpose to accept independent contractor payments) has attracted quite a bit of attention from creditors and vendors <um, I don't have any of those> and those vendors have paid "Dunn and Bradstreet" $179 just to pull my incomplete business credit report.  I need to take action quickly so that I can have the correct information in my credit report.  Yeah right, and maybe they have a bridge to sell too.....

Keep in mind these are all cold calling salesman. Minimum wage phone center employees working for a few bucks commission per successful call.
