text message spam

i got this same message now just texted to my phone. i'm in the lancaster area so not quite philly. is anyone of us actually looking for work though? no one said if they had been inquiring about work. i actually have been but i never listed my number which is strange to me.

I got this message today, 1/18/2011 @ 8:07

"In response to your request to earn extra income from home, full or part time, reply "YES" to this message to get details and to find out when you can start."

717-475 number, wondering if they are just going through every number in the book...
Was on ATT and now Verizon. This is a Lancaster number but my plan has moved to verizon near philly.

Since I'm several days later then everyone else my guess is that its just a program going through and sending it to every number in PA. Will have to check with some of my friends on that. I'll let you know what I find out.

Since you can message via PhoneNum@vtext.com and ATT has similar. Here is a link to a site for VZW customers on how to make an alias email.

quick of it: log into text.vzw.com | Preferences | Nickname | Create a new one
VZW also allows Block All Messages sent from Email and Block all Messages sent from Web.

I too received the same message from that number. I have no idea what its about and I never made any inquiries about work. I actually live in Hanover, Pa which is a good distance from Philly. I just replied "Stop" in hopes that I wont receive any more messages from them. I didn't get any response yet but I'll be sure to check my next phone bill and I will post any oddities I find.

I live in MD with a PA 717 exchange through Verizon. Received msg once, so here's hoping it's just a one time spam.
