Warning, SCAM! Called me 3/6/2012 at 7:47pm. Claimed to be Cox Communications. Representative claimed to be named Nicholas Seitz and he claimed his managers name was Nakia Wimbley. They were offering a free 90 day internet speed upgrade, and then after it would be $15 additional each month. I didn't give them any personal information, but he seemed to know the details of my account already. I could hear call center noises in the background. He asked for permission to access my account and I agreed. Well, the speed upgrade didn't happen so I called my local Cox office. The representative I talked to checked my account and said nobody had accessed it for a long time. The only promotion he knew of was a speed upgrade for 6 months, but it cost $5 extra per month. I called back the number, 520-314-3035, and it is a recorded message that says "I'm sorry I missed you, we are calling with a special offer just for you. Please call us toll free at 520-314-3035 for details. Thank you."

I got that same call from that same number on 3/4/12.  I think the rep's name was Susie.  Anyway, it was for an upgrade to the next highest level of internet.  They told me everything that you mentioned.  The only difference is that I actually got the upgrade and is currently enjoying.  This promotion is not a scam and the rep (susie, I think) was nothing but helpful and nice.  If you didnt receive your upgrade, its probably because something happened to your work order and it got flagged, or you have a back balance with Cox.  I actually called that same number later that night and got that recorded message, but I called the next morning (during business hours) and was able to speak with a live rep that told me that their company was contracted on behalf of Cox to make the promotion offers.  Sorry Jeff, but that call was not a SCAM.
