Yo, there are SO many fake cops, fake firemen and boiler-room con artists out there, there's no reason to be BULLIED on the phone by some clown who makes you think he MIGHT be in uniform.
Funny how these guys call and call and call but NEVER leave a message. Why not? They're afraid to have their voices on an answering machine?
There are better ways of getting donations than being a phone pest. You can support the ailing post office by doing a mailing, for example. Take out an ad in one of our ailing newspapers.
The "State of New York Fraternal Order of Police" could be real...but like so any "charities," could siphon most of the money donated into paying "volunteers." Or giving them incentives to make these calls, like, "Be on the phone from 6 to 8pm when you can interrupt people having dinner...then take $40 out of petty cash and go have dinner out and take a pal with you"
Telemarketing STINKS no matter who does it. It STINKS. It's rude, it's obnoxious, and it STINKS.
