It's one of a series of numbers from that area code, I believe. From comments of those who mention police or crime stoppers, I believe it's a donation scam. Sometimes they're for veterans, too. Don't pick up. And do block.

Called today, no msg, I blocked it.  I'm getting calls every single day now from 516 and 518.  Need a good app that blocks whole area codes to zap these pests!

Someone is calling my home from 5166287689 at least 4 times a day.  Early in the am and as late as 9  pm.  No one  responds when we pick up  the phone.  We want them to stop calling.

Dont pick up phone...its a scam where the call if answered costs 1.50 on your phone bill. Got two charges last month.
