This number called our business today at 1002 hours.  Caller ID said "World Business."  Suspecting a spam/scam, I answered "Hello?" instead of the usual business spiel.  A woman asked for "Mr. (full boss' name)."  I told her he works on the road and asked if I could help her.  She asked, "Are you Mrs. (boss' last name)?"  I asked, who's calling.  She repeated her question.  When she realized she wasn't going to get an answer to whether or not I was the boss' wife, she said, "I'll call back another time."  I tried to remind her that "he doesn't work in the office" but she had already disconnected.  Definitely smells of a spam/scam phone call.  Probably some idiot investment scheme or something similar.

I blocked our number and called them back to try to find out who they are.  After many rings, a woman answered with "Hello?" instead of immediately identifying the company.  When I asked if it was a company she confirmed it was... but still didn't identify it.  I explained the call I had gotten and she was apologetic, but STILL didn't identify the company.  I asked one more time, explicitly, "What is the name of your company?"  She hesitated then finally told me, "WBL, World Business Lenders" and they specialized in loans for small businesses.  I told her we did not have need of any loans.  She said cheerily, "Oh, okay.  Thank you."  Which means, they'll be calling again and again, I'm sure.  Seems awfully suspicious when a company does its best to avoid answering such a simple question as, "What is the name of your company?"  I see that they have an A- rating from the BBB but, because they are "accredited" by the BBB, that means squat.  I've seen companies who have a boat-load of complaints against them be given a good rating by the BBB because they PAY the BBB to give them a good rating by being "accredited" by them.

These people called AGAIN today, this time at 1518 hours.  A guy asked for the boss by name.  I told him, "I told you people before not to call.  We don't have any loans and we don't need any loans.  I told you that when you called this morning!"  He hesitated, then stuttered something about having us down as having shown some interest before.  I told him, "That is a lie," because it is.  We have NEVER expressed interest in any cold-calling "loan" company.  Ever.  Even if we did need a loan - but we don't - I certainly wouldn't apply for one through a company that cold-calls and lies about some past association.
