I had this number text me:
(516) 259-2184: "What's up homie"
Me: "Who's this? Lol"
Me: "?"
(516) 259-2184: "Love and miss u greatly."
Me: "Who is this?"
(516) 259-2184: "I wish I can tell you who I am. Soon probably."
Me: "Where are you from? Wyu2?" (Wyu2 - what you up to?, I just made it up to try to weed out a possible aritificial intelligent application that might be used to randomly get numbers and text them)
But that was it for sometime. I recently made a Patook account where I gave out my number so I'm unsure if you guys did the same thing. I also gave my numbe to a friend through Kik. Other than getting my phone number from those apps, whomever/whatever is messaging me either randomly generated it or the person/device received my number from my phone carrier since they sale the information. I can't think of any other way they/it could have gotten my number.
(This analysis comes from my computer science and engineering background)
Maybe this will help, since those were the only sources that would be able to get my number and use it in such a way,
