I just received this call from a man with a think accent claiming he was from Microsoft and my computer was giving them "Error, Error, Warning, Warning" messages. Since I signed up for a similar type of service from HP a week ago when I bought my new computer, I listened thinking this might be real, but I also thought it might have been a prank call. I sat quietly listening, and once he asked me if I was near my computer, I asked "Is this a recording" and he didn't answer instead going, "Sir, Hello, Sir". I hung up immediately, and searched the number on Google and found out it was a scam, thankfully I hung up. I received a call earlier in the day from a "Fabian Aguilar" (323-265-9875), I answered but no one said anything so I hung up. Looks like that was a scam too.

Now I want to know, how did these people get my number all of a sudden?

Called last night at 9:26 Central Time and woke me up. Caller ID said New York. I didn't answer. Have no idea what they wanted or why they would call that late, especially since New York is Eastern Time and an hour ahead of us.

Same report as EdieJo- said they were from Microsoft and that his name was Mark. He said that hackers planted spyware in my computer while I was on the internet, on my e-mail, or doing something else online. Always skeptical I asked him which computer he was speaking of. Didn't know. He told me that I needed to go to my computer and that he would guide me through removing this malware. I declined and he was extremely pushy telling me that my brand new anti virus software couldn't remove the files. Whatever you do don't let them into your computer! My pizza place down the road shows up on my caller ID and you're trying to tell me MICROSOFT doesn't? Nice try Mark. Oh yeah and when I check the number it comes out as a check cashing place.

The foreign guy tried to tell me he was from Windows Main office, which he called the "Mother company".  That was the first red flag.  Then he tried to tell me my computer was infected with a virus that no virus scan can detect but he can help me fix it.  I didn't give him any more time as I said my computer was just overhauled and I will let my tech guy know.
