We were scammed by a person calling herself Caroline Miller from this cell phone number.5142991149 It was the Montreal Granny scam, or Montreal Grandchild scam.we found out later.  Initially phone call claiming to be our grandson in trouble wrecked rented  car, in jail needed money for damages before getting out of jail.Was with 3 friends, had injuries, taken to hospital. Also she wanted money for lawyer fee, cost of incarceration, medical care, and then cost for another person in party, who was unable to pay, needed payment for all who were involved for cost of damage to car, because insurance would not cover it because drinking was involved. All of this because they were american citizens. Money had to be sent by money gram from Walmart store to her boss, David white who was supposed to be a lawyer, and then to Daniel carpenter who was his assistant. Finally was able to contact grandson, who had been home the whole time.after grandson called again, wanting yet more money....asked him who his oldest sister was, and he had to hang up because jail phone call time was up. After being confronted, said that he was the guard, and grandson had asked him to call.....Called Caroline, she said that it must be some of the prisoners were listening in and wanted to scam money from us, she would look it up for us. No longer able to contact her.

I read this post again that was submitted by me.....it is not really clear, I was very upset. Our Grandson had been in Portland the whole time, had never gone to Montreal at all. The person who was calling was not our grandson, it was the scammer. We did give them money, I am sorry to say, and reported it to the Attorney General, Phonebusters in Canada, 1 888 495 8501  joint Canadian and US place to fight fraud. Were instructed to call the Federal Trade Commission 1 877 382 4357 . Also reported it to Money gram who was going to report it to FBI, and to Walmart. Also reported it to local police. We do not expect to get money back, but hopefully gave them some helpful information. These people are organized crime,  are very sly, they prey on your emotions.We are now on a sucker list that will be sold to others....so we have to be very wary. Hopefully you will not be scammed, but if you are, do not hesitate to report it, even if it is embarrassing, you feel like the most stupid people in the world, but if you can prevent another person from being scammed, or provide information that will help them get caught, it will be more than worth your embarrassment.

Give me all the numbers just happened to my grandmother but regarding my older brother being in jail the phone cut out before anything coud be established if anybody has any more information on the numbers that are calling people or additional info please contact me at dimestorehoods@hotmail.com iam trying to get the number and catch who did this to my grandmother thank you
